Tranquill setting

The gardens at Benslow Music School

There are ten of us on the Irish music course, with two tutors (and a third promised for later in the week. There is another course running with three clarinetists. The whole school is ours. Just thirteen people and three tutors in 12 acres. Other instruments include mandalin, accordian, oboe, clarinet and saxaphone.

The first session went well, last night. I met another 'beginner' bodhran player. She didn't tell me that she was an classical percusionist until I'd given her a lesson and loaned her the teaching CD. Not I know she's a trained 'drummer', we're going to learn some 'advanced' rhythms for the polka the fiddlers learned last night and the jigs that are promised tomorrow.
