I've always been fascinated

by birds flying, especially big ones.

I also have a long-standing admiration for the work  of Leonardo da Vinci and his plans for a flying machine. Channel 4 made a documentary testing that design - a machine that enables man to fly 500 years before Orvil and Wright but which was never built. It's worth suffering the long lead-in of  adverts at the beginning of this video. Viewers outside the UK have a look on youtube.

But this video of a 'robot that flies like a bird' takes things to a whole new level.
