A nasty thing, is rumination.

"Turning issues over and over in your mind so much that you no longer have the mental energy in reserve to resolve anything. Knowing that it's unhealthy, however, makes it no less difficult to stop. Going from a head full of (bad) stuff to a head full of nothing is just about impossible. But going from a head full of (bad) stuff to a head full of (better) stuff is less tricky.

So if you find yourself in one of those horrible feedback loops where your worries are racing round and round, the answer very often is to crowd out the negatives. Find something else which will completely engage your mind, leaving no room for those bad boys."
