Skadu in action

Skadu in action

I took Levant II to the caravan workshop today as the leak from the rear door is still causing problems. The prognosis was that it would need a 'diverting fin' over the door to prevent the rain entering the gap. A temporary solution was suggested - draught excluder around the door to make sure that it was a tight fit in the frame. As I don't have any, I bravely unpacked the Skadu and erected it at the rear of the van.

It was relatively simple. I couldn't work out how to fix the rear 'feet' on the driveway - I have tent pegs for the job, but they are no use on the keyblock. I eventually settled on lashing the rear feet to the retaining wall at one side and the Berlingo's front wheel at the other. I'm keeping fingers crossed that this will hold it when the wind gets up.

I now have a better idea of the very useful rainproof space outside the rear door. The skadu comes with side panels and expending 'legs' for the rear, to covert it into a sealed tent with as much privacy as needed. I have the Small Motorhome Forum to thank for the details of this great addition to the living space - one in which wet things (including dogs) can be left to dry out, thus saving the inside of the van.

There are other ways the Skadu can be used. Her are just some of them.
