Lifelong learning

is not just about  qualifications.

I wanted to sign up for the Go Gospel weekend at Benslow Music School, but it starts the Friday before we return from a week in Wales and IronmanWales in Tenby. So, I searched for more workshops run by Jo Sercombe and discovered Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds.

"In 2003, Farncombe Estate Centre launched with a mission to educate. ... While many adult learning centres are being forced to close their doors through lack of funding, Farncombe has seen a series of financial investments, including the building of 32 extra bedrooms in 2011. ... Alongside the well-established subjects like History, Crafts and Music Appreciation, there are new courses in – for instance – rambling with the Cotswold Wardens, ballroom dancing, fitness for the over-50s and cupcake decoration."

Not only is there a Go Gospel workshop running the weekend before we head to Welshwards, MWNN and Ron can go there too and enjoy 320 acres of glorious parkland in an area of outstanding beauty overlooking the Vale of Evesham. Accomodation is rated 4*, there is free wifi, and the food looks particularly appetising.

There is a huge variety of courses and workshops on offer, none of which leads to a qualification but all of which qualify as 'lifelong learning'.

Iz excited.
