It's beginning to look a lot

like Christmas.

I've put up the Christmas lights and decorated the mantlepiece with candles and baubles. I invested in some outdoor solar powered 'fairy lights' that are charging up in the conservatory while the contractors work on the back garden. The solar cell had only a couple of hours of daylight but the lights came on at dusk and twinkled until after midnight when I went to bed.

Garden wall with herb garden 'triangle' behind

As we approach the Winter Solstice,  ( the anniversary of Mum's death)  the patio refurbishment is taking shape. Yesterday saw the delivery of the slate paving slabs (all the way from China -colour Sunrise) that will form the sitting out area and the steps to the lawn.

Wall plinth cap in natural slate

The contractor cut some slate to  cap off the retaining wall for the raised bed that will become my herb garden next to the seating area.

The colours in the slate are so lovely and no two slabs are the same.

We had a sprinkling of snow overnight. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
