Huh?

Virgin Media's channel one is no longer broadcasting. I didn’t even know about this until the channel disappeared. No announcement, just a 'this channel is no longer broadcasting' notice.

The channel was originally known as 'Virgin 1' until Sky purchased it from Virgin (and when did that happen? Wonders if Sky bought it to run it down as it competes with Sky 1).

Channel one was host to a number of top US shows including the various versions of Star Trek, and the geeky spy drama Chuck. Channel one was one of the free channels forming the Freeview lineup – it’s been replaced  by the quiz channel 'Challenge'.

According to Radio and Telly UK, many of these shows will still be available on the Sky platform on the new Sky Living channel, which launched on Sky on the 1st of February. I have yet to see any evidence of my favourites (Star Trek etc) on the listings. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth paying Virgin for the dubious pleasure of watching quiz shows where once Captains Jonathan, James T., Jean Luc,  Benjamin et al were wont to 'boldly go'.
