I bought some goat's butter to try - and what better bread to try it on than Irish soda bread?
I made a loaf on Sunday and had some for lunch with a duck egg and Wensleydale salad, washed down with Barry's classic blend from my new (charity shop purchased) 'chatsworth-style' teapot.
The verdict? The butter is really nice - creamy and mild flavoured. I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a blended cows' butter. The soda bread worked OK but no more than OK. It's not a patch on the brown bread brought over from Ireland for my birthday. The salad was great. Duck eggs are my favourite and you can't beat a good piece of Wensleydale - unless it's a hard tangy goat's cheese.
