I love plums. Whatever the time of year, whatever the variety. I especially love President Plums. They are readily available in France during the late summer/early autumn and were once easy to find in English supermarkets.
I couldn't find any in the supermarkets this year so was thrilled when I checked the local market stalls when I was in town on Tuesday. A punnet for £1. Not locally grown, or even imports from France, but flown in from Italy. Wherever they're from, they're delicious, all the more so because they're in season and haven't been forced or imported from the other side of the world.
